Welcome to Howard Torn Construction Associates

Howard Torn General Contractor started in the construction business in 1954, when Fort Lauderdale was no more than a Mecca for tourists.  Throughout the years our construction projects have been a part of the tremendous growth that has taken place here in South Florida.

In 1983, as a result of that growth, Spiro Telegadis and Charles Mishner brought their varied talents to the team and Howard Torn General Contractor became Howard Torn Construction Associates. In August of 1999 Howard Torn and Spiro Telegadis retired from the firm, leaving Charles Mishner as the President and Owner of the Company.  Charles was mentored by two of the best construction professionals in South Florida.  The Company’s legacy continues and is as successful as ever.

In the spring of 2009, we fulfilled the required educational prerequisites and became LEED accredited professionals.  This will allow us to assist clients who want to pursue green building initiatives for their projects.

We have always maintained a “hands on” operating philosophy and closely monitor field operations on a daily basis.  Being fully computerized gives us access to the latest technology for estimating, accounting, quality control and time management.

This combination has resulted in an outstanding track record for on time and on budget quality projects, something we are very proud of.  Our successful formula has been applied to numerous commercial and residential developments totaling several thousand units. Most of these projects are located in South Florida, however we have worked out of state as well for select clients. We specialize in multi and single family construction and have completed projects ranging from 17 units to 445 units; however, our experience also includes the construction of shopping centers, warehouses and banks.  Most recently our focus has been on multi-family re-development, luxury housing, in fill opportunities, apartment restoration, and commercial tenant improvement work.
